Relevant Internship Program

Question 1: What new skills or knowledge did you acquire during your summer internship with us?
I learned multiple new programs including TDF and PowerBI. I also greatly increased my knowledge of Excel and how important is it to grow your business network.

Question 2: How did your summer internship contribute to your personal and professional growth?
One skill I learned that is pertinent to my personal and professional life is communication. Communication is key to keeping healthy relationships in both business and personal relationships.

Question 3: What was your favorite project and why?
My favorite project I got to be a part of was the Lean Process Mapping. I got to get a better insight to multiple aspects of the company. I also got to see real world issues companies deal with on a daily basis, and how they are working to fix those issues.

Question 4: How Would You Summarize the Unique Experience of Being Part of Our Internship Program?
During my time here, I mainly worked with our CRM system and learned the ins and outs of it. As well as learning and using TDF I got to work with a lot of different people in the company and got to broaden my professional network. I also loved getting to use some of the concepts we learn in school and see how they apply to businesses.

Fun Fact: I am first generation college student!

Question 1: What new skills or knowledge did you acquire during your summer internship with us?
During my time at Relevant, I developed skills such as time management, communication, and collaboration. I improved my skills in Excel and learned how to use an ERP system. Overall, I learned how a distributer operates and the strategic decisions that go along with it.

Question 2: How did your summer internship contribute to your personal and professional growth?
I came out of the internship with a better understanding of where I am in my professional journey. I was able to use what I’ve learned while in school and apply it to the projects I was given. I am better equipped for the world of supply chain due to the tasks/projects I completed at Relevant.

Question 3: What was your favorite project and why?
That is a tough question, I was given many great projects! I would have to say though, my favorite project was working with Relevant’s ERP system. We used the Substitutes and Accessories feature to improve inventory management while helping forecasting methods. After completion, we developed a process guide to help Inside Sales!

Question 4: How Would You Summarize the Unique Experience of Being Part of Our Internship Program?
Being a part of the internship program at Relevant was one of the best experiences I have to date. I was given projects that challenged me and taught me beyond a textbook. What made the experience even more enjoyable was working in the incredible environment that Relevant provides. Everyone I came in contact with was helpful, intelligent, and made things fun. I am very grateful for the summer internship I had!

Question 1: What new skills or knowledge did you acquire during your summer internship with us?
I learned a lot about the distribution industry and a lot about the Inside Sales process. I also learned how to use Prophet 21 and other applications such as Power BI and was able to strengthen my skills in PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel.

Question 2: How did your summer internship contribute to your personal and professional growth?
My internship contributed a lot towards both my professional and personal growth.This was my first ever internship and it allowed me to learn a lot about the professional world. It also helped me learn about how a company works and what kinds of resources are in the business world. It helped me to apply my skills and knowledge towards meaningful projects that will make a real impact. In terms of my personal growth this internship allowed me to form new connections with people while also allowing me to learn how to work with other people in a professional environment.

Question 3: What was your favorite project and why?
My favorite project was working on the ISR onboarding project. This is the main project I worked on throughout the summer and while working on it I learned a lot about Inside Sales as well the amazing people who work with the Inside Sales team. This project allowed me to apply my creativity and knowledge to create something that will have a real impact. It was also really rewarding to see how I grew and how this project grew and came together throughout the summer.

Question 4: How Would You Summarize the Unique Experience of Being Part of Our Internship Program?
I would summarize the experience as an awesome way to learn about a great company, the distribution industry, and awesome people. This experience is so unique in both the work you do as well as who you do it with. It didn’t take long for it to feel like I was a part of a family at Relevant and working there was awesome.

Fun Fact: A fun fact about myself is either I was born in Malaysia or that I am a twin.

Question 1: What new skills or knowledge did you acquire during your summer internship with us?
I learned the ability to write out standard operating procedures in neutral tone to not promote any bias towards a particular method. I also learned how a multidisciplinary engineering company handles topics for continuous improvement.

Question 2: How did your summer internship contribute to your personal and professional growth?
It allowed me to understand all aspects that have to go into an engineering project including project management, engineering, and more. There is so much behind the scene stuff that every department may not see and its helpful to understand that everyone plays an important role.

Question 3: What was your favorite project and why?
Definitely writing out all of my standard operating procedure documents. These were the most fun since I really had to apply what I had learned from school to make a process that would minimize variability in the steps by making the process very direct.

Question 4: How Would You Summarize the Unique Experience of Being Part of Our Internship Program?
It was definitely one of the most if not the most exciting place I have worked at before. Being able to be a part of a team that directly impacts someone else and being able to contribute my skills to the betterment of the group makes it very rewarding.

Fun Fact: By the time I graduate in May, I will have accomplished my Six Sigma Green Belt, Lean Certificate, and my Black Belt.

Question 1: What new skills or knowledge did you acquire during your summer internship with us?
I learned how to plan, execute, and manage many different marketing campaigns. I learned how to use various programs – such as our CRM – to make marketing processes more efficient.

Question 2: How did your summer internship contribute to your personal and professional growth?
One skill I learned and have grown with is project management. The internship gave me the opportunity to take ownership of campaigns from start to finish, and those skills and qualities I will be able to use throughout my personal and professional life.

Question 3: What was your favorite project and why?
My favorite project would be the development of the Supplier Site. The team tasked me with creating an online portal where our suppliers could go to get key information about our business easily. I built the site from the ground up and continue to manage it. Seeing that our largest suppliers use a product that I had ownership over is fulfilling.

Question 4: How Would You Summarize the Unique Experience of Being Part of Our Internship Program?
During my time here, I was able to learn the industrial distribution industry and be hands-on in the execution of many tasks and campaigns. It can be a fast-paced environment, but I was able to develop my skills in marketing, and now I can continue to use those skills in my current employment at Relevant.

Question 1: What new skills or knowledge did you acquire during your summer internship with us?
I learned how to use a multitude of different Microsoft programs, and especially improved my skills in Excel. I also was exposed to how collaborative a company is between each department, and how each sector of the company works together to solve problems.

Question 2: How did your summer internship contribute to your personal and professional growth?
My summer internship challenged me for the better and gave me many opportunities to step out of my comfort zone. Not only did I work for very knowledgeable people in supply chain, I also got the opportunity foster connections across other sectors of the company as well.

Question 3: What was your favorite project and why?
My favorite project was reaching out to suppliers to confirm purchase orders that had an unknown status. I was able to help the purchasing team recover these purchase orders by acknowledging their status in our ERP system. This project allowed me to gain experience talking directly to suppliers and problem solving, while also learning how to navigate an ERP system.

Question 4: How Would You Summarize the Unique Experience of Being Part of Our Internship Program?
In summary, my experience as a Relevant intern allowed me to expand my knowledge on a multitude of important subjects, while having a group of very experienced people to support us along the way.

Fun Fact: I am an on the officer team for the Professional Association for Industrial Distribution!

Question 1: What new skills or knowledge did you acquire during your summer internship with us?
Throughout my internship I learned many different parts of Relevant. I gained knowledge of the numerous product lines Relevant has to offer as well as how each department works together. I learned the sales process, the duties of inside sales and outside sales, and how to create an efficient experience for each customer. Throughout my internship, I worked on a training guide for inside sales representatives. While working on the training guide I learned how to research effectively and how to use the resources within the company to find the necessary information. Lastly, I also gained knowledge on how to enter quotes and orders on P21.

Question 2: How did your summer internship contribute to your personal and professional growth?
This internship gave me a hands-on experience in a professional setting. Effective communication, multitasking, teamwork, and collaborating with others are all skills that I will continue to utilize throughout my career. Also, I got an introduction to the different industries that I may interact with in my future endeavors.

Question 3: What was your favorite project and why?
My favorite project was the product training videos that I recorded with the product line heads. I enjoyed learning about the products, their function, and how they can be used together to create solutions for customers.

Question 4: How Would You Summarize the Unique Experience of Being Part of Our Internship Program?
My experience at Relevant was welcoming. Something I find unique about Relevant is the company culture. As an intern, I felt truly valued and that my time added value to the company. Relevant has shown that they truly want to invest in every employee’s future in the company.

Question 1: What new skills or knowledge did you acquire during your summer internship with us?
This summer I was able to learn much more about the various aspects and responsibilities of the supply chain side of business. I became far more skilled in using business tools such as Excel and improved my professional communication skills.

Question 2: How did your summer internship contribute to your personal and professional growth?
My internship experience gave me great insight into the realities of working in industry and tested many of the skills I have learned in school. I now feel much more confident in my ability to successfully navigate the beginning of my professional career.

Question 3: What was your favorite project and why?
My favorite project involved data mining for and merging duplicate part numbers in the company inventory database. This project challenged my problem-solving skills and allowed me to become more proficient in Excel while also providing a tangible benefit to the company.

Question 4: How Would You Summarize the Unique Experience of Being Part of Our Internship Program?
As students with little to no experience we were welcomed and guided by the people of Relevant while also being trusted to accomplish a multitude of meaningful tasks for the organization.

Question 1: What new skills or knowledge did you acquire during your summer internship with us?
One of the biggest new skills I learned during my time at Relevant was becoming highly proficient in Excel and understanding the inner workings of a larger company.

The summer internship contributed to my professional growth because everyone treated me professionally and taught me the correct ways to improve my work skills and manners.

My favorite project was creating templates for a third-party resource we use to help consolidate information

Question 4: How Would You Summarize the Unique Experience of Being Part of Our Internship Program?
Overall, I would say that my time at Relevant as an intern was amazing! Everyone in the company, including the other interns, was fun to work with and great to hang out with after work. It was a very enjoyable experience, and I couldn’t have found a better company to intern at, and now work for full-time

Fun Fact: I started my own business in college and grew it to six figures in less than a year.

Question 1: What new skills or knowledge did you acquire during your summer internship with us?
During my internship, I significantly improved my efficiency in Excel. I learned multiple advanced functions that made managing large datasets easier.

Question 2: How did your summer internship contribute to your personal and professional growth?
This internship helped me further develop my attention to detail, problem-solving and organizational skills. Professionally, I gained experience working in a collaborative environment.

Question 3: What was your favorite project and why?
I believe that my favorite project was uploading attributes and organizing the PIM (Product Information System). But all projects that we had were valuable and helped me learn different skills!

Question 4: How Would You Summarize the Unique Experience of Being Part of Our Internship Program?
I could not have asked for a better internship! This internship provided me with valuable experience in the industrial distribution industry. Overall, I would recommend this internship to anyone! I really appreciate all of Relevant’s hard work to make sure that we got the most out of our time.

Fun Fact: I picked up gardening this summer, and it is now my second favorite hobby! (behind golf)

Question 1: What new skills or knowledge did you acquire during your summer internship with us?
Along with gaining competency in the hardware associated with Relevant LLC such as the Honeywell ControlEdge 900 series and the Emerson RX3i, I also acquired newfound skill in adaptibility and working as a team.

Question 2: How did your summer internship contribute to your personal and professional growth?
? For my personal growth, it has greatly improved my time management and work efficiency in encountering new environments. In terms of professional growth, it has undoubtedly provided a strong foundation for understanding industry processes and systems–allowing me to platform and expand upon my experience.

Question 3: What was your favorite project and why?
My favorite project was working on the Honeywell Pro-Lab demo. It allowed me to delve into the managerial aspect of engineering while also expounding on the creativity and problem-solving that accompanies it. Along with being able to see the growth of the project with every step of the way, such as sourcing and acquiring its 4-20mA signal generator or outlining how the Honeywell Versatilis Transmitter would be implemented, it exposed me to the design process.

Question 4: How Would You Summarize the Unique Experience of Being Part of Our Internship Program?
An opportunity to learn all aspects of industry and how it all works together. Allowing for a perspective on engineering that recognizes the “full-brain” nature of industry process.

Question 1: What new skills or knowledge did you acquire during your summer internship with us?
I learned about the importance of inventory management and how it affects the supply chain as well the how different parts of the business operate cross-functionally.

Question 2: How did your summer internship contribute to your personal and professional growth?
I learned how to effectively analyze and present data and gained knowledge about various products and industries. I observed how business relationships are formed and maintained through repeated visits and what it means to care for the customer.

Question 3: What was your favorite project and why?
My favorite project was the substitutes project as it allowed me to think critically and create and test a process from scratch.

Question 4: How Would You Summarize the Unique Experience of Being Part of Our Internship Program?
This experience taught me various professional and personal skills that I will continue to implement in my career.

Fun Fact: When I was 8 yrs old I won an apple eating competition.
