Relevant's Employee Engagement In Safety
Employee engagement is essential to building and sustaining a strong safety culture. Engagement begins when employees understand the company’s safety mission and how their actions directly support it. This connection is strengthened through consistent communication and active involvement in everyday safety processes.
We support employee engagement through several key programs and practices:
Observation Reports
Safety Observation Reports allow all employees to report conditions in the workplace. This tool is used to recognize safe work practices and to identify and correct unsafe conditions. These reports are an important part of creating accountability and continuous improvement.
Audits
In-depth safety audits are conducted by safety management personnel. To further encourage employee participation, we also implement smaller, awareness-based audits that any employee can perform. These efforts build awareness while giving safety management greater insight into potential risks. This two-way engagement benefits everyone.
Shared Responsibility For Health & Safety
Safety Champion Program
Each facility has a designated Safety Champion, either selected or volunteering, who serves as a local representative.
The Safety Champion’s responsibilities include:
- Acting as a point of contact for safety-related concerns at their location
- Supporting two-way communication between employees & the safety team
- Promoting safety through participation & leadership
- Sharing insights to support updates in safety policies & procedures
- Raising awareness about safety issues specific to their facility
- Helping employees find solutions to safety-related challenges
Safety Incentive & Recognition Program
Positive reinforcement plays a major role in encouraging safe behavior. Our incentive program recognizes employees for their safety contributions, helping to build morale while reinforcing the importance of safe practices. We continue to explore new ways to make these programs engaging and meaningful.
Routine Drills
Emergency drills provide an opportunity for feedback and evaluation without the presence of actual danger. These drills promote engagement by involving employees in post-drill discussions and encouraging suggestions for improvement.
Daily Work Area Inspections
Employees conduct regular inspections of their tools and equipment. These inspections improve confidence in workplace safety and serve as an early-warning system for equipment needing repair or replacement.
Encouraging Feedback
We maintain an open-door policy and encourage all employees to follow the principle of “see something, say something.” Employees can contact the Safety Department directly through a dedicated email address, making it easy to ask questions, share feedback, or report concerns.
Together, these practices create a workplace where safety is a shared priority, and every employee has a role in maintaining and improving our safety culture.
