Industrial PLC and PAC Solutions

Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Process Automation Controllers (PACs) are at the core of today’s smart, connected industrial systems. They serve as the decision-making and control hubs for everything from discrete manufacturing to large-scale, continuous process operations.

At Relevant Solutions, we deliver PLC and PAC technologies that offer exceptional performance, reliability, and flexibility. Whether you’re upgrading legacy infrastructure or designing a fully integrated industrial automation system, our team can provide the right control architecture to help improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and support future scalability.

Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Process Automation Controllers (PACs) used in industrial automation and process control systems

PLCs are designed to handle high-speed, deterministic control of machinery, equipment, and processes in harsh environments. They excel at real-time logic execution, typically using Ladder Diagram (LD), Function Block Diagram (FBD), or Instruction List (IL) programming languages. These are ideal for factory automation, material handling, and robotics.

PACs, while offering similar rugged reliability, extend the control capabilities into more complex and integrated operations. They support multi-domain control, sophisticated data handling, and higher-level tasks such as recipe management, asset monitoring, and enterprise communication. PACs typically leverage Structured Text (ST) and Sequential Function Charts (SFC), making them suitable for batch production, multi-loop process control, and hybrid manufacturing applications.

To meet the diverse needs of modern industries, we proudly offer Emerson’s range of PLC & PAC solutions, a top brand with a legacy of innovation and advanced automation capabilities since the mid-1980s, ensuring the right solution for every application.

Applications of PLCs & PACs

PLCs and PACs are used across a wide range of industries due to their adaptability, performance, and ability to integrate with modern digital ecosystems like SCADA, MES, and cloud-based analytics platforms.

Food & Beverage

These controllers ensure precise control over batching, blending, pasteurization, and packaging operations. PACs support traceability, data logging, and recipe management, all of which are vital for food safety compliance and consistent product quality. Integration with HMI and SCADA systems allows for easy monitoring and audit tracking.

Oil & Gas

Controllers are used in drilling rigs, compressor stations, well pads, and refineries. PACs, in particular, support complex process control loops and advanced supervisory logic needed in volatile environments. Their redundant architectures and rugged designs ensure reliable operation in hazardous areas with minimal maintenance.

Water & Wastewater Treatment

Controllers are used in pump stations, UV disinfection, chemical dosing, filtration, and reservoir management. PACs help manage changing flow rates, pH levels, and pressure differentials through advanced PID control. SCADA integration allows for centralized oversight, enabling municipalities to remotely manage water quality, flow control, and regulatory compliance.

Power & Utilities

PLCs and PACs control turbines, generators, voltage regulation, load shedding, and grid interface systems. They provide fast response times for real-time load adjustments and integrate with condition monitoring systems for predictive maintenance, enhancing uptime and reducing the risk of blackouts or overloading.

Manufacturing Automation

From automotive assembly lines to consumer electronics production, PLCs and PACs handle real-time control of motors, actuators, conveyors, and robotic systems. They enable high-throughput production, advanced diagnostics, and remote access for troubleshooting. Integrated safety logic also allows these controllers to serve dual purposes, supporting both process control and safety compliance.

Emerson PACSystems RX3i programmable automation controllers, provided by Relevant Industrial for scalable and high-performance industrial control systems.

Emerson PACSystems™ RX3i

The PACSystems™ RX3i family provides high performance control in a modular design. Multi core processors and generous working memory support fast logic execution and large data handling. These controllers offer gigabit speed communications on the backplane and over fibre, and an open PROFINET interface for high speed I/O connectivity. A wide range of discrete, analog and specialty modules enables flexible configurations and straightforward migration from earlier Series 90 30 systems. Built in security measures, such as Trusted Platform Modules and encrypted firmware, protect against cyber threats while allowing secure remote updates.

Emerson PACSystems™ RSTi-EP

RSTi EP CPUs bring the power of PACSystems™ to compact applications. They run the same programming environment as RX3i controllers, making it easy to reuse application libraries when scaling down. These units offer real time status and remote diagnostics, and include dual LAN ports, an RS 232 serial interface and support for PROFINET and DNP3 communication. The small DIN rail footprint houses up to 1.5 MB of non volatile memory and features a built in multi port switch that simplifies wiring and network redundancy. Security is also a priority, with Trusted Platform Module hardware, secure boot technology and encrypted firmware updates.

Emerson VersaMax™

VersaMax™ is a versatile control family that can act as a compact PLC, distributed I/O or distributed control. Despite its small size, the VersaMax™ modular CPU offers up to 128 kB of program memory, floating point math, a real time clock, subroutines and PID control. Emerson provides a broad selection of discrete, analog and specialty modules that can be combined to build stand alone systems with up to 256 I/O points or expanded systems with up to 2048 points. VersaMax™ supports open connectivity via PROFINET, Modbus/TCP, DeviceNet and Profibus, and its snap together carriers, hot swappable modules and rotary address switches simplify installation and reduce engineering time. Configuration uses the same PAC Machine Edition software as other PACSystems™ controllers, providing a unified development environment across different system sizes.
